7 December, 2017: Preparations to provide on-wing and MRO services for the CFM International LEAP-1A (Airbus A320neo) and -1B (Boeing 737 MAX) engine, is well underway at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, Germany. As a result, Lufthansa Technik is one of the first MRO providers to support customers globally already in the early stages of their operation of LEAP powered aircraft.
Besides building up repair capacity for the LEAP engine by offering staff training courses and investing in the necessary tooling, Lufthansa Technik will also focus on extending its on-wing/on-site Airline Support Team (AST) services.
Lufthansa Technik will offer LEAP services for the entire lifecycle. This covers the total range of MRO services from engine overhaul and parts repair to on-wing support and ground-breaking engineering; work scoping to active cost of ownership.
Bernhard Krueger-Sprengel, Vice President Engine Services at Lufthansa Technik, said, "The agreement with CFM International to become one of the first providers for LEAP engines is another milestone in our long-lasting extensive relationship. Lufthansa Technik will continue to fulfill its aspiration to be a key player in the MRO services for the next generation engine technology and offer its vast expertise, performance and quality over the next decades to all customers."
