Jet Aviation building a wide-body hangar for Completions and RMUs in Basel, Switzerland

Jet Aviation is expanding its completions and refurbishment, modification and upgrades (RMU) capabilities in Basel with a new state-of-the-art 8,700-square-meter, wide-body hangar. Hangar 3 is anticipated to reinforce the company’s potential to meet growing demand for completions, maintenance and RMU services, particularly for wide-body aircraft. The new hangar will have ability to hold a number of wide- and narrow-body aircraft at the same time, and be suitable for wide-body projects up to Boeing 747.

Despite the large scale changes, disturbance to both customers and employees is projected to be minimal. Jet Aviation has leased additional hangar and shop space to sustain capacity and capabilities all through the process. Work has already begun on the tarmac extension to help facilitate aircraft movements around the build site. Once accomplished, the extended tarmac will permit larger aircraft to effortlessly approach the new hangar.

“This significant investment in new infrastructure is a clear demonstration of Jet Aviation’s commitment to meeting customer needs around the world,” says Neil Boyle, senior vice president completions and general manager Basel site operations. “It will enable us to be more flexible in scheduling current and future workloads to satisfy the expectations of our clients.”
